“Reply to Myoho Ama Gozen”

(Monthly Gosho Passage March 2017)

A person’s life is fleeting. The breath that is exhaled does not await the breath that is inhaled. The (transience of the) dew before the wind pales by comparison. Those who are wise, forlorn, old, and young are all characterized by impermanence.  Thus, you must first understand one’s last moment of life and then seek to learn other matters.
